Russia House in Davos Business Programme Speakers Announced

Davos – The complete event programme for Russia House, organized by the Roscongress Foundation during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, has now been published. From 20 to 24 January, Russia’s official residence will open its doors to participants of the World Economic Forum and Davos guests. The event will be broadcast online on the official Foundation website (roscongress.org) and the Russia House website (houserussia.com).

The programme includes 8 sessions and discussions, over 20 speakers, and a traditional Foreign Investment Advisory Council members’ meeting. The business programme will kick off with an International Cybersecurity Congress discussion on 21 January. The session will discuss various approaches to ensuring cyber resilience at the local, regional, and global levels. The discussion will be moderated by Deputy Chairman of the Board of PAO Sberbank, Stanislav Kuznetsov and BI.ZONE Director Dmitry Samartsev. The crypto economy will also be a topic of discussion on the first day of the business programme. The session will consider regulatory instruments and approaches for the industry, its development prospects, the stability of digital assets, and tokenization of real assets. Discussion participants include Senior Advisor to the Board of Directors of Turicum Private Bank Raymond Bisang, Managing Director of CORUM Vermögensverwaltung AG Stephan Bucher, General Director and Chairman of the Management Board of Rosgeologia Sergey Gorkov, ‘Astana’ International Financial Centre Manager Kairat Kelimbetov, Director of Institutional Sales OK Group Kevin Liu, BitForex Cofounder and Head of Business Development Jason Luo, Director General of Labuan FSA (Malaysia) Danial Mah, SMC Family Office SA Partner Luca Moretti, and Huobi Global Vice President of Global Business David Chen. The discussion will be moderated by the President of the Crypto Valley Association (Switzerland) Daniel Haudenschild.

On 22 January, the Russia House will host the session ‘Inequality: A Barrier to Economic Growth’, which will consider the distribution of profits and wealth among various subsections of the population. Participants will also discuss access to basic social goods such as healthcare, education, and housing, as well as inequality’s effect on the efficacy of social elevators. The discussion will focus on ways to increase the inclusivity of economic growth, such as national and international taxation systems, social and regional policies, labour market regulation, and igitalization.
The central day of the Russia House business programme will continue with a session dedicated to ESG (Ecology, Social, and Governance) issues. Today, ESG issues are one of the key elements of the global business sustainability agenda. Certainly, ESG issues have gone far beyond cooperation between investors and shareholders to affect
employees, business partners, regulators, governments, and consumers.

Participants will include Yandex’s Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer Gregory Abovsky, PhosAgro’s Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Management Board Andrey Guryev, CIS Managing Partner and Deputy Regional Accounts Leader for Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe & Central Asia at EY Alexander Ivlev, SIBUR Managing Director Aleksey Kozlov, Founder, Chairman of the Management Board, and Chief Executive Officer of Opportunity Network Brian Pallas, BCG Managing Director & Senior Partner and Chairman for Central & Eastern Europe and  Middle East Christoph Schweizer, and VTB Capital’s Global Chief Executive Officer, Alexei Yakovitsky. Together with moderator EM Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder Thomas Blackwell, they will discuss what Russia has to offer the global business community in terms of experience and new ideas with respect to recent international business trends.

The subsequent Russia House discussion will touch on cultural ties between Russia and the West. Participants will discuss whether culture can help restore good relations between Russia and the West as a whole and how business can stand to benefit. The discussion will be moderated by journalist, radio and television host, and Deputy Development Director of the Leo Tolstoy State Museum, Fekla Tolstoy. The panel will include the participation of Associate Professor at Saint Petersburg State University (Graduate School of Management of Saint Petersburg State University), Vice President for Development, Golden Mile GmbH, and ESNU Professor Natalia Kovalevskaya, President, Chairman of the Management Board, and Member of the Board of Directors of ER-Telecom Holding Andrey Kuzyaev, and Minister and Head of the Department for Foreign Economic Activity and International Relations of Moscow within the Moscow City Government Sergey Cheryomin.

A separate session will focus on the development of a strategic dialogue between Europe and Russia and cooperation prospects in innovation, technology, science, research, healthcare, and education. The session will be moderated by Nadezhda Sikorskaya, Editor-In-Chief of Nasha Gazeta, a Russian language publication in Switzerland. Panellists will include Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Miroslav Lajčák, Research Director of the Foundation for Development and Support of the Valdai Discussion Club and Chief Editor of the journal Russia in Global Affairs, Fyodor Lukyanov, and P&P Advisory Group President, Mauro Pantaleo.

The second day of the Russia House business programme will round off with the session ‘National AI Strategies in Russia and the World’. On 23 January, Russia House will host the session ‘Quantum Challenge for the Future’, dedicated to one of the most promising areas in the development of quantum technologies – quantum computing. The final session of the Russia House 2020 business programme will feature the participation of Full Professor of Philosophy of Nature and of Science at Lateran University in Rome Gianfranco Basti and Rector of the New Economic School Ruben Enikolopov. The session will be moderated by Chief Executive Officer of the Russian Quantum Center Ruslan Yunusov. Russia House is a platform for promoting Russian initiatives among international business and political circles. World Economic Forum participants and Davos guests will have daily access to Russia House’s modern, multifunctional spaces for official and informal discussions.
